Music for the concert hall and the classroom.
DR. SAM
DR. SAM is an opera based on the life of Dr. Samuel H. Sheppard. The book and lyrics are by Gary C. Hopper with music by Tim Kloth.
Sam Sheppard was wrongfully convicted of the brutal murder of his wife, Marilyn Sheppard, who was found dead in her bed the morning of July 4, 1954.
Lawyer F. Lee Bailey earned Sheppard a new trial which began in the fall of 1966. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
The television series The Fugitive, and later the movie (1993), were loosely based on the Sheppard murder case.
